An Innkeeper’s Life in the Rockies

Packing for Spring

Spring time for the Elk means growing fuzzy new antlers. The antlers are covered in velvet.  Thank you Lissa for posing a great question which inspired this post. Lissa will be coming to see us the weekend.

We provide bathing soap and shampoo. We are located less than one mile from a Safeway Grocer and pharmacy.  Be prepared for tempertures as low as 40 degrees and highs in  the mid seventies.  Clothes you can layer such as tee-shirts, fleece, long sleeve shirts and a  light thermal ware. Jeans, or compreble cloth weight.  Walking shoes with tread such as tennis shoes, or hiking boats. Suggest breaking in your hiking boots BEFORE your arrival.  Buy them a month before your trip and wear them around a little each day.

Slippery bottom shoes and  heals DO NO work in this area due to the loose gravel.  Rarely do we see folks in dresses or skirts…maybe it’s the sudden changes in the weather, but pants tend to be most functional.

Eric (the man of this house) keeps a pair of shorts (or spare cargo-pants) in the car in case the weather changes from chilled to hot.  Their are nice sport stores in town one can purchase hiking clothes, if needed.

Camera a must. We have a nice photo shop in town with good prices for photo cards or camera accessories.
