Painted Floors Painted Lady

New floor paint

I painted our entry way a soft mauve pink. I love painted wood floors. They have a warmth and cozy feel to them. We were not able to rescue the original bare floors, but that's okay--this has added warmth and color.

Color palet

I saved this paint palette from when I picked the wall colors for this room and one of the bedrooms. Choosing a color from a booklet such as this helps in coordinating home decor and is easy to file for future reference. Next year I'll use this to choose new fabric for my seats.

Me

This is me posing by my newly painted floor. The 2 coats of paint took 3 days to dry--ideally I would have given it 5 days. Yes, I had my hair chopped off and painted red and orange with white stripes.

The porch

This is the room Eric and I spend most of our time in. Drinking tea, reading, enjoying the sounds of birds, and watching the elk and deer out the window. It catches the mud in the winter too. Eric keeps binoculars on hand to people watch what we call "the walkers". Our enclosed porch is ideal for us.

Puppy Resting During Road Trip

Summer fun has begun! This tired little fella looks new to the people world, but I think he will do well. This photo was given to me by my neighbor Cherie. She owns Tendergrass Carriage, a horse and carrigate outfit that serves the Estes Park area.

Wildlife Viewing in the Spring

There is a bear in the air. I captured this elegant lady and her cub just a few feet from the house. Spring time is a great time to capture wildlife in town and near our property. Not guaranteed, but if you keep a watchful eye out as you drive slowly around you have a chance. Dusk and dawn are good times.

Not guaranteed, but if you keep a watchful eye out as you drive slowly around you have a chance. Dusk and dawn are good times.

Keep your distance.  I have some hairy stories of close encounters.  Once I walked with the camera up to my eye thinking this would be a smart way to NOT miss anything. NOT is right.   When I brought the camera down, away from my face, I was standing 8 feet from the bear. It was a bad thing to do…bad, bad bad. In this photo I was about 70 feet away, again too close, but I stumbled onto her. Click photo for a neat website which allows you to post photos.

She was a big girl. They look gentle--truly. When I'm close to them I feel no fear--maybe I'm, "GRIZZLY GIRL".

fast to climb

Fast to climb trees. MY gosh--don't climb a tree if you are getting chased. They are up in an eye's blink. REAL slow getting down. They napped for several hours in this tree.

In the velevet

This fellow is in the velvet. Antler growing time is a time for the elk to take care not to dent or brake their tender growth. This man and his buddies grazed in our yard for a few days.

Watercolored Spring-time

We are just about there! Our spring weather last about two weeks. We go from Winter, to 2 weeks of Spring, and right into full-time summer. This photo was taken 2 years ago, and I used adobe photo shop to turn it into a water-color.

Elk in Velvet Season

grazing in the front yard each day this week

Elk are grazing in the front yard each day this week, and in town. Best viewing is in town at the golf course. The golf course is a favorite watering hole and grazing location for tired hungry elk.

The in velvet refers to the new antlers the elk are growing. The antlers are covered with a velvet-like covering until the antlers have taken full form.
